Professional fisherman Chris Whisenant will be casting his 2022 season as a National Professional Fishing League (NPFL) angler with the backing of new sponsors SANY America and State Tractor & Equipment (STE). Whisenant kicks off the NPFL season February 20th on Kentucky’s Lake Cumberland with the backing of the global heavy equipment manufacturer and its Kansas City Dealer Partner.
Now in its second year as an official league, the National Professional Fishing League was founded with the goal of restoring simplicity to professional bass fishing. Whisenant is one of over 100 anglers represented in the league.
Sponsorship by a national heavy equipment brand and the local Dealer Partner in Whisenant’s home area marks a departure from the fishing-brand relationships that are typical of the fishing world. However, it is well-suited to the working-class values of the NPFL as stated by NPFL Founder Alan McCulloch. “Our goal is to build an enduring tour with the anglers and their families at the forefront.”
According to Whisenant, SANY and STE are ideal sponsors for the NPFL, which he describes as a “league for working guys, like those who own plumbing and excavator companies.” In addition to his tournament goals, Whisenant has high expectations for the exposure he can give to SANY and STE this season. His boat and truck will feature sponsor graphics, while Whisenant – himself a former equipment operator – plans to demo SANY equipment on social media.
